Oh My Brick: Lego Friends 2019!

So a lot has happened in the world of Lego since about Friday - when I was last properly online #studentlife - and looking around something I am now seeing everywhere are set pictures for the lego friends 2019 first wave and they. Are. AMAZING!!!
First up in the same vein of the pods we got this year for each of the main girls in the Lego Friends line we have these beautiful build-able keepsake boxes one for each girl
Andrea, with her signature music gear - and what I hope is a printed name plate! And, i don't know if it is just my monitor because I know sometimes the colours can be a little off - but it looks like the flowers on the box and the swirl top on her ice cream are both mint blue? Anyone else see that?
Emma! Looking at this one those name tiles have to be printed, this one is so sweet in her signature colour theme just like Andrea's! She also comes with that nice little dual colour pen from Friendship House among other sets and that little printed art tile of the cat that is in the Junior's Emma's Pet Party set!
Stephanie! The second one to come with that little bow accessory - I would have thought she would get the aqua blue with Emma having the darker purple, but never mind. This one comes with a few nifty accessories that fit with Stephanie's sporty personality!
Olivia! I can't really tell from this angle but it looks like she has a pink flower in he hair kind of like the one Mulan from 41151: Mulan's Training Day has! She also has her cute little robot and her tablet (I love the tablet I will admit lol) and of course a spanner because our girl Olivia is the girl who is good with technology! <3
Mia! I have to admit I do sometimes get Mia and Stephanie's themes confused because they are both kind of sporty but Mia for sure prefers the outdoors as evident with the sweet marshmallow roasting on the fire set along with her signature walkie-talkie and of course, a cute little brown bunny!
There is then this sweet addition that is kind of outside of the five box theme - I have seen this referred to the 'friendship' pack. This contains my main girl Olivia and Vicky. Vicky comes also in 41338: Stephanie's Sports Arena. This one is quite a bit sweeter because having never seen the TV show for friends and never seen her in the UK comic that is available every month with 1-2 small builds also I assumed she was an antagonist because of the smirk, pictured below.
This being said, 1) she has pretty eyes and 20 a nice, unique hair piece!
Back to the friendship box set - it comes with two sweet boxes, you could give one as a gift to your bestie or just keep it as a dress up box for your Lego ladies. The set comes with some sweet Mini Doll/ Mini Figure accessories such as the witches hat, a trans neon yellow wand, a frog, a golden fireman's hat that would actually be really nice as I don't yet have this. Most intriguingly is bottom right - is that the helmet from the Lego Movie 2?
There is now this set - I am not 100% sure what the name is - looking online some places say Olivia's Hamster Wheel and some say Olivia's Hamster Playground - this set it super cool because it comes with three little hamsters who if anyone knows me knows I LOVE! they're cute and it's always funny to see hamsters hidden in random places around my Lego town.
This is Olivia's Cup Cake cafe - I was a little concerned with this set as cafe's are quite a common occurrence and there has been a set called Heartlake Cupcake Cafe so initially the concept of this set wasn't new. However, the old set was a traditional building in mainly white themes with cutesy decorations and addition. This set follows a new concept with the building looking like an actual cupcake - it's fresh, new and I love it. This is a move away from the block-ish architecture of the original pre-reboot sets. I love the little jacket print on Emma, as well as a new outfit for Olivia - I always wanted something prettier for her than the standard two or three outfits we got for her last year that were so similar.

This next beauty is Emma's Art Studio - I was a little concerned with this set too because we had two Emma and art sets in 2018 and so the concept isn't particularly stand out or new, but this building has several features that to me make it particularly notable. First off, it appears to be 8x12 rather than 8x16 which is the usual scale, it's what the smaller plates usually measure as (numbers are in studs of course) which means it will be a little awkward for me as I will have to either resize it or give it priority placing so as not to cover the beautiful stickers on the side. However - the upper floor in this does remind me of that promotional Lego store set that was a gift with purchase a while ago. Never the less, this seems to have a modular feel to it - like 2018's Disney build and swap sets - and this set has something I haven't seen before in Lego; a piece that requires water to reveal a pattern. This is exciting because this is bring Lego into the elemental mix that seems prominent in toys. With the rise in things like slime there seems to be a push in children's toys towards mixing things, giving children a messy experience with a sensory boost - such as the crayola marker maker range and the barbie colour suprise doll.

Anyway, back to the Lego...
The next Emma related set is Emma's Veterinary Clinic. This seems to be a relabelling on the Junior's Lego line. As recent as 2018 the Juniors Lego set was a line aimed at younger Lego fans with sets that had less complicated builds. These sets would come in a red box baring the Juniors logo as well as the logo for the theme they came from. Themes brought into the Junior's line include Lego Friends, Lego Disney and Lego Jurassic World. Now there is a move away from this as the box is the same as other Lego friends boxes. This set is quite sweet - Juniors tend to be some of my favourite as the do not include sticker-ed elements and so everything is printed. I have a slight preference for print over stickers.
This is another one for the Juniors line - Mia's Foal Stable - the premise isn't original it's something we have had before but not since the reboot. This one is nice because it contains multiple foals - previous foal sets included one because they were smaller, This one also appears to have a nice printed horse file in a move away from the previous 2x2 horse tile that was present in several sets.
This next one is a nice little set comprising of several mini builds together - including finally a Lego motorised scooter for Mia reminiscent of the one she has in the comics and TV show. This set is aptly called Mia's Forest Adventure and is the first time we are getting a bee's nest in the Lego Friends line - if I collected only Lego Friends I would be very excited as the bee nest piece is particularly charming. The little look-out platform makes me thing of the adventures and exploits of my childhood heros - the Secret Seven and the (aptly named considering the number of girls who make up Lego Friends) Famous Five.
It feels like every year or every other year we get a big house set - and this one is the best one yet. From the staircase leading to floor two to the horse that comes with it as well as the wishing well the whimsical architecture of this build really makes it stand out. My favourite? the semi-circle four wedge pieces that come in that zazzy shade of blue - previously I had only seen them in beige. There is also a nice use of those printed wood-plank pieces, previously seen in sets such as Snow White's Forest Cottage.

This next one is a beautiful set for Andrea - it reminds me of a few previous builds but this one is definitely a standout for the colour scheme, as well as the secondary Mini Doll, Chloe. Her hair reminds me of Natasha from Heartlake City Hairdresser in something like 2012. It also seems to come with a cape and a skirt which anyone who knows me knows I have a true, true weakness for them. I love the use of the wands as decorations on the top of the Stage.
This next one is a nice little set that I think will probably retail for under £20. I really like the new print on the surf board - this is truly the board of Stephanie, it's even in her colours! Her trusty little dog is with her which is all good, as well as a nice little swing ball set - Lego is truly exploring new builds with the friends this season. This adorable little set is simply called Stephanie's Buggy and Trailer.
This set is kind of a step up from one of the sets further up on this list. This iteration however is called, Stephanie's Obstacle Course and with two cute horses is a stage above Mia's Foal Stable. this one has two slightly newer takes on Lego horse hurdles. This also seems to come with the slight blue bagged set of accessories. All in all, a charming little set.
